Domestic automobile sales rise over 30% in June

Renault India reported an over two-fold increase in sales to 11,837 units in June as against 4,340 units same month last year.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Royal Enfield also posted large double-digit growth of 34% and 29%, respectively.
While, Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold a total 13,502 units in the domestic market, registering a 29% growth over its domestic sales in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement. Royal Enfield sales rose to 50,682 units in June from 37,341 units in the same month last year.
While most of the automobile companies recorded a growth in domestic sales during the month, Maruti Suzuki was the only one to post a large nearly 10.2% decline in domestic sales. The largest automobile maker in India sold 92,133 units during the month from 102,626 units sold in the same month last year.
Hyundai Motor's domestic sales grew by 9.7%, while TVS Motor sales were up 11% in June. The company sold 39,806 units in June in comparison to 36,300 units in the corresponding month last year.
Mahindra's domestic sales grew by 5% during the month. The domestic sales rose to 34,991 units in June this year from 33,282 units in the same month last year.
Posting a low single digit growth was Hero Motocorp that saw sales rise by 1.32%. The Chennai-based company sold 2,47,085 units in June in comparison to 2,22,017 units during the same month last year.
German auto major Volkswagen reported a marginal decline in sales in India at 4,022 units in June. The company had sold 4,039 units in the corresponding month last year. The brand has registered a steady sales performance on the back of successful launches of special edition models like Polo Select and Vento Celeste and a consistent performance of the marquee products like Polo, Vento, Jetta and Beetle, the auto maker said in a statement.
