Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire, Tour S steal the thunder in April
In a trend that is virtually getting cemented, the compact segment that consists of models like Maruti Swift, Ignis, Celerio, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S saw an increase of 31.8 per cent in sales in the month of April, 2018. These cars have managed to grab teh attention of the buyers in terms of both looks and pricing and this is helping power up sales. The company sold 83,834 in April 2018 compared to 63,584 units in the same month last year.
Maruti Suzuki India in a statement said that it has sold a total of 172,986 units in April 2018. This includes 164,978 units in the domestic market and 8,008 units via exports. The company had sold a total of 151,215 units in April 2017. However, Maruti Suzuki's mini-segment that consists of models like the Alto and WagonR saw a dip of 2.8 per cent as the company sold 37,794 units in April 2018 compared to 38,897 units in the same month last year. In case of Mid-Size cars that include Ciaz, the company saw a dip of as much as 27.2 per cent. Maruti Suzuki sold 5,116 units in April 2018 compared to 7,024 units in the same month last year.

In total, the company's domestic sales in all segment, that includes Sub-segment (mini, compact and mid-size), Passenger Cars (utility vehicles and vans) and Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales (light commercial vehicles), went up by 14.2 per cent in April 2018.
