Personal Computer (PC) vendors continue to face challenges on weak ‘back to school’ demand and the overall low demand for this 'white elephant' in the consumer market, according to Gartner report.
While all other manufacturers had a positive growth in PC shipments in the US, Apple was the only one to report a decline of 10.7%, apart from those grouped in the ‘others’ category by Gartner analysts.
Worldwide market leader, Lenovo had the highest growth rate in the US of 15.3% since last year.
US demand for PCs also stemmed from Asus who came in second on a 5.3% growth, followed by HP (3.1%).
All ‘other’ PC manufacturers reported a 13.4% decline in growth rate since 3Q of 2015.
America’s third quarter PC shipments amounted to 16.15 million units, which was only a 0.3% decline from the same period last year.
