As the date for the commercial launch of Jio GigaFiber is inching closer, existing players are striving hard to face the Reliance Jio's onslaught in the telecom market. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-run telecom service provider, is also gearing up to retain its subscriber base by launching a new Mega Cashback Scheme. Under the new BSNL scheme, customers will be offered 25 per cent cashback for opting the telco's annual broadband plans, said a TelecomTalk report.
The largest wired broadband service provider has also revised its other broadband plans to extend up to five times more FUP per month. BSNL's popular broadband plan of Rs 249 is now priced at Rs 299, offering the data benefit upto three times, according to the report. Notably, other broadband players are also offering a discount on yearly broadband plans along with extra data benefits. However, BSNL is yet to announce extra data offer to its subscribers.
Under BSNL's new cashback scheme, if subscribers submit a timely bill for a plan with Rs 1,000 monthly rental, they will get a cashback of Rs 3,000 (25 per cent) which they can use to pay future bills or avail more services. Interested BSNL customers can dial toll-free number 1800-345-1500, or visit BSNL customer service centre to opt for this new scheme. The BSNL plan is being introduced in all its circles.
Vivek Bansal, Director (Consumer Fixed Access), BSNL told TelecomTalk, “We wanted to gift our customers something special for their overwhelming response to our services and products. So as a special gesture to our esteemed customers we have announced this unique gift.” The plan, however, will be available for a limited period of one month.
In December 2018, BSNL had embarked upon revising its Experience Unlimited Broadband Plan of Rs 249, and raised it to Rs 299. The telco, however, extended the benefits into three times. According to the report, rather than shipping 15GB data with a pre-FUP speed of 8Mbps, new BSNL offer ships 1.5GB daily data, translating the total benefits into 45GB.
