Mumbai to Delhi in 13 hours? Final trial of Talgo train to begins
Presently, Rajdhani Express takes 17 hours to cover Mumbai-Delhi route.
Is it possible to cover nearly 1400 km distance between New Delhi and Mumbai under 13 hours? It could be if Spain's Talgo trains succesfully conclude their trial runs.
Currently, Rajdhani Express is the fastest on the route and it takes around 17 hours to cover the journey. Talgo trains are fasters and are expected to cover the distance in mere 13 hours.
This means that you can board the train at night from New Delhi and wake up early morning in Mumbai.
The third and final trial of Spanish train Talgo will start on August 1 for Delhi-Mumbai route. The train is expected to reach a speed of 130-160km per hour.
Starting from August 1 to August 5, the first day of trial run will begin at 7:55 pm from Delhi to Mumbai at the speed of 130 km per hour, covering the distance of 1384km.
The second day of trial will take place on August 3 at around 3pm starting from Mumbai to Delhi. On the last and final day of trial, on August 5 the superfast train will run at the speed of 150 km per hour.
This superfast train will get nine coaches including two Executive Class cars, four Chair cars, a cafeteria, a power car and a coach for staff and equipment.
On July 14, the train had surpassed India's fastest train, Gatiman Express, by running at a speed of 170 km per hour between Mathura and Palwal. This was during the second phase of the trial.
In May, Talgo's first phase trials began between Izzatnagar to Bhojipura stations on the Bareilly-Moradabad rail route. The speed of the train at that time was 80-120 km per hour.
