JioPhone Monsoon Hungama offer is all set to kick off on Friday i.e. July 21 as was announced by Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries at RIL's annual general meeting (AGM) earlier this month. If you are willing to purchase a new JioPhone, all you have to do is exchange your old feature phone for the new JioPhone at an effective price of just Rs 501. The phone is otherwise available for Rs 1,500.

Once you exchange your old feature JioPhone for a new one, you will have to make a recharge of either Rs 49 or Rs 153 to enjoy all the 4G services on Reliance Jio’s network. The Rs 49 prepaid plan offers 1GB of 4G data along with unlimited voice calling for a period of 28 days while the Rs 153 plan offers 1.5GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for 28 days.
The JioPhone runs on KAI OS HTML5-based Firefox OS, featuring 4g support along with connectivity options of 3G, 4G, Wifi, NFC Bluetooth capabilities, besides 4GB internal storage. Powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor core SPRD 9820A/QC8905 Processor. JioPhone runs on 512MB of RAM and storage can be expanded to 128 GB via a microSD card. JioPhone has a 2 megapixel rear Camera and 0.3 megapixel front Camera.
Meanwhile, Ambani at the AGM, also announced the launch of JioPhone 2, which comes with significant improvements over the old JioPhone.

Apart from a change in design, JioPhone 2 sports a physical QWERTY keypad and a 2.4-inch QVGA screen. The latest device is larger than the first JioPhone, and closely resembles the earlier Blackberry phones. The phone runs only on 4G, and will be SIM-locked to the Jio network with VoLTE and VoWiFi connectivity for placing voice calls, said BGR report.
JioPhone 2 will also support WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube. Apart from introducing these apps, Jio has its own suite of apps and services available for the platform, including JioTV, JioExpress Music along with other content services that will further boost the new phone's functionality.
