One of the largest private sector banks in the country, HDFC Bank, on Tuesday said that it recorded a net profit of Rs 3455.33 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2016. Analysts expected the bank to post Rs 3470 crore net profit.
The bank said that its gross non-performing assets (NPAs) for the quarter stood at 1.02% as against 1.04% in the first quarter ended June 30, 2016. Provisions for the quarter stood at Rs 749 crore as against Rs 681 crore.
HDFC Bank said that it earned interest of Rs 17,069 crore as against Rs 14,772 crore in the same period of last year.
Total income increased to Rs 19,970.9 crore in the given quarter as against Rs 17,324.3 crore.
