Is Reliance Jio launching JioFiber this Diwali?
Reliance Jio has been speculated to launch its broadband services under JioFiber this week.

At the 40th annual general meet of Reliance Industries, when Managing Director, Mukesh Ambani unveiled the JioPhone he also said that Jio’s broadband services was next. “Most of Jio's infrastructure for providing these services is already in place. This is the next big monetisation opportunity for Jio,” Ambani said on July 21.
After disrupting the wireless telecom space, Jio was speculated to introduce its broadband services – JioFiber by Diwali which falls on October 19 this year.
Jio was reportedly testing its broadband connections in Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara in May this year.
Jio was also rumoured to work with Den Networks for its broadband business. Den Networks has a presence in 1.3 crore households and 1.05 crore digital subscribers.
With regard to pricing of the JioFiber broadband plans, they are assumed to be disruptive in nature.
When Jio launched its broadband digital services in September last year it announced a 'Welcome' offer to persuade customers. Something similar seems to be in store with JioFiber.
Jio’s broadband plans may include 100GB of data per month at 100Mbps of speed for three months for free. These plans were made known due to a technical glitch on Jio’s website in July that revealed them.
An installation charge of Rs 4500 would also be applicable.
After this telecom operators started modifying their own broadband plans to fend off competition from Jio. Airtel introduced its ‘BigByte’ plans which gave customers 1000GB bonus data for eight months.
The offer is valid till March 31, 2018.
Bharti Airtel is offering six plans for Rs 599, Rs 699, Rs 849, Rs 999, Rs 1199 and Rs 1599, which can get you 1000 GB of bonus data.
BSNL has also increased its minimum broadband speed to keep up with the competition from JioFiber. Speed cap will now increase to 10Mbps which are currently at 4Mbps, a report by Ultra News said.
