French investigators will probe automaker Renault over suspected "cheating" in emissions tests of diesel motors, the Paris prosecutors office said on Friday.
Following a massive emissions scandal involving German carmaker Volkswagen, independent French experts found dangerously high levels of emissions from diesel engines of several carmakers, including Renault.

Renault shares dropped sharply on the Paris stock exchange on the news, trading 4.3% lower at 82.58 euros around 1005 GMT, having opened over 1% higher.
