This is why Maruti Suzuki is No. 1 in India; sales soar in June, Swift, Baleno, Dzire outperform
The major booster to Maruti Suzuki sales came especially from passenger cars, which recorded 46.5% growth with sales of 102,530 units compared to 69,970 units in June 2016.
Largest passenger vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki recorded robust June sales by witnessing a massive 36.3% year-on-year growth. The company sold a gross total of 144,981 units in this month compared 106,394 units in the same month of previous year. Latest month’s total sales includes 135,662 units in the domestic market and 9319 units of exports.
The major booster to Maruti’s sales were passenger cars who recorded 46.5% growth with sales of 102,530 units compared to 69,970 units in June 2016. Compact cars like Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Dzire and Tour S were outperformer with sales of 71,570 units up by 76.7% as against 40,496 units in June 2016.
Even mini cars like Alto and WagonR saw 15.1% growth with sales of 29,381 units versus 25,524 units in June 2016. It was only mid-size vehicle Ciaz whose sales nearly halved to 1,579 units down by 60% versus 3,950 units recorded a year ago same month.
Utility vehicle like Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza were also in demand this month, as cumulatively Maruti recorded sales of 19,321 units abov 39.2% compared to 13,879 units a year similar month.
Sales of Omni and Eeco surged by 32.3% to 12,185 units compared to 9,208 units in June 2016.
Interestingly, looks like consumers have a likeness towards Maruti's light commercial vehicle Super Carry as it witnessed 689.3% growth with sales of 1,626 units in this month as against 206 units in June 2016.
With this the company sold a total of 490,479 units in the April-June quarter, growing 24.3% over the same period previous fiscal. This includes 463,840 units in the domestic market, a growth of 25.9 % over same period previous fiscal. Export during the quarter stood at 26,639 units.
