Too focused on digital biz; Ambani not much aware on dispute with ONGC
Ambani, was talking about its recently launched "ambitious" project Reliance Jio.
When Reliance Industries is flying high on Jio's launch, the Chairman of company, Mukesh Ambani, is not aware about the latest developments on ongoing dispute with Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) over Krishna-Godavari block, which can give the company's oil and gas business a jolt.
While giving an interview to The Times of India, Ambani said, "I haven't spent time on it, frankly".
Last week, the Justice AP Shah committee agreed that Reliance had migrated gas from its adjacent block of ONGC in KG basin in Bay of Bengal in the past seven years.
The committee further submitted the report to Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who will be taking action against RIL by the end of this month.
Unaware about the situation, Ambani intelligently, got away with the question on the same. He said, "In the meantime, Prasad and Khandelwal have handled the upstream energy business pretty well in partnership with BP. These are all questions you must ask them. Of course, I am always available for any guidance or help".
Further, Ambani, was talking about its recently launched "ambitious" project Reliance Jio. He wishes to be 30 years old again just to live the 'technological' opportunities prevailing today, he said in the interview.
When asked Ambani about what made him enter telecom sector, he said, "If you ask what is my obsession, it is technology. It's the thought of future that drives me... In my view, what we have seen in the last 300 years is only a trailer. The next 20 years will overshadow the last 300 years-to the extent that we would not be able to fathom today. I wish I was 30 years old today. The opportunity in front of us today is huge."
