2.2 lakh houses for poor constructed in two years, Naidu says
Housing and urbanization come under the purview of State Governments. Central Government’s schemes namely Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) - Housing for All {PMAY (U)-HFA} are being implemented for providing low cost houses and related civic amenities to urban poor including slum dwellers.
2.23 lakh houses for poor have been constructed in the country over the past two years, M Venkiah Naidu, Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, told the Lok Sabha on August 10.
He said, "During the last two years, 2,23,814 houses have been constructed under JNNURM, RAY and PMAY (U) by the implementing agencies."

Naidu further said, "Under the schemes of JNNURM & RAY, 13, 86,761 houses have been sanctioned of which construction of 10,60,899 houses have been completed. Further, 8,54,386 houses for urban poor have been sanctioned for construction under PMAY(U)-HFA Mission since its inception on 25.06.2015. Under this Mission, construction of 1,770 houses has been completed so far. Additionally, 8,004 beneficiary households have been disbursed interest subsidy under Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) of PMAY (U)."
