Arun Jaitley admitted in AIIMS; PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah reach hospital
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited AIIMS in the evening to check on Arun Jaitley's health, and left after spending around 10 minutes at the hospital.
Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was today admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after he complained of uneasiness and weakness. Senior doctors at AIIMS later said that Arun Jaitley`s condition was "normal" and that the former Finance Minister was "undergoing medical check-up". The 66-year-old Arun Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS at 11 am today. His health is being monitored by a team of endocrinologist, nephrologist and cardiologist.
"Jaitley was admitted to the cardiology department of AIIMS at 10 a.m. for a medical check-up. He is being monitored by a team of endocrinologist, nephrologist and cardiologist," a senior doctor at AIIMS told IANS. "He is stable now and we are keeping a close eye on his health," the doctor was quoted as saying.
In its bulletin at around 9 p.m., the hospital revealed that Jaitley's condition was stable.
"... He is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors. At present, he is haemodynamically stable," Aarti Vij, Chairman of AIIMS` Media and Protocol Division, said in a statement.
Notably, Jaitley`s family members are present at the VIP room of the Cardiothoracic and Neurosciences Centre in AIIMS.

Union ministers Amit Shah and Harshvardhan also reached AIIMS along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to check on Jaitley's health.

Jaitley has been unwell for the last two years, and in 2018, he took a three-month sabbatical to undergo a kidney transplant, following which he was put under isolation. In 2014, Arun Jaitley had undergone bariatric surgery to correct the weight.
