The Noida-Greater Noida Metro is still awaiting the final inauguration date but the buzz around has already started reflecting in numbers now. The metro corridor is expected to start its operations from this month. The metro has started the advance booking of the smart cards and surprisingly, more than 10 thousand cards have been booked so far. Those using the smart card for their travel will get a discount of 10 per cent, just like the Delhi Metro system. The card has been named "Noida Metro City 1 Card".
According to a Hindustan report, companies located in NSEZ have booked these cards. The NMRC has built a Foot Over Bridge at NSEZ Metro Station of Phase-II to improve the connectivity to the NSEZ. The report quoted a senior official saying that commuters could also buy QR-coded paper tickets to undertake a journey on the 29.7-km-long network.
The NMRC had announced the fares last month. Travelling one station would cost Rs 10 on an QR-coded ticket and Rs 9 via smart card; 2 km would cost Rs 15 on ticket and Rs 13.50 on smart card; 3 to 6 km would cost Rs 20 via ticket and Rs 18 on smart card; 7 to 9 km would cost Rs 30 on ticket and Rs 27 on smart card. Travelling more than 10 stations but less than or 16 stations would cost Rs 40 via ticket but Rs 36 via smart card; going beyond 16 stations would cost Rs 50 via ticket but Rs 45 via the smart card.
There are 21 stations (15 in Noida and 6 in Greater Noida) excluding Noida City Centre and Sector 52. The stations are Noida Sector 71, 50, 78, 101, 81, Dadri Road, Noida Sector 83, 137, 142, 143, 144, 147, 153, 146, 149, Knowledge Park II, Pari Chowk, Sector- Alpha 1, Alpha 2, and Delta 1 and Depot Station.
