Box Office Collection: Avengers: Endgame vs Avengers: Infinity War - Verdict out; check BO winner

Even though the word superhero may sound imaginary and unrealistic, they still have the power to create magic and rule many hearts. This is exactly what Marvel movie Avengers: Endgame is doing across the globe. In just a span of three days, this movie has already been referred to as the biggest Hollywood BO opener. And not just that, the movie has beaten the record of its prequel Infinity War.  On the first day of opening, Avengers Endgame alone in India bagged a massive collection of Rs 53.10 crore, which was followed by another Rs 51.40 crore on the second day and finally on the third day it clocked Rs 52.70 crore.

Talking about the movie’s collection, Taran Adarsh via its Twitter account said, “#AvengersEndgame writes H-I-S-T-O-R-Y... Has a record-breaking, Blockbuster weekend... Unimaginable, unbelievable, unprecedented trending... Fri 53.10 cr, Sat 51.40 cr, Sun 52.70 cr. Total: Rs 157.20 cr Nett BOC. India biz. Gross BOC: Rs 187.14 cr.”

"Non-Holiday releases have worked well for movies such as Baahubali 2, Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety, Raazi, Avengers Infinity War, Sanji, 2.0, Stree, Uri The Surgical Strike, Total Dhamaal, Luka Chuppi, Badla and now Avengers Endgame," Adarsh added.

Not only that, Avengers Endgame is shattering the belief that a movie needs to have massive screen numbers for release to bag hefty collections. For example, Endgame currently has been released in just 2845 screens, however, its occupancy is much higher than compared to movies which are released in over 4,000 screens. 

Interestingly, Endgame has already challenged the storm created by Bahubaali 2 two years ago in box office collection. The former entered the Rs 100 crore club in just two days time, while Bahubaali 2 earmarked the club in three days time. 

Adarsh says, “#Baahubali2 [#Hindi] rewrote the rules of the game exactly 2 years ago [April 2017]... Almost everyone felt that the records attained by the film will remain unchallenged/unsurpassable for a long, long time... But #AvengersEndgame is challenging it right now!” 

Back in 2018, Avengers Infinity War being released in over 2,000 screens bagged Rs 94.30 crore in opening weekend. But, Endgame has collected Rs 157.20 crore so far in 2019 - which is higher by 66.70% from its previous series. 

A fact of coincidence cannot be ignored. According to Adarsh, Bahubaali 2 was released on April 27, 2017, while Infinity War set foot on April 27, 2018 followed by Endgame on April 26, 2019. All three money spinners released on the last Friday of April. Hence, definitely one can definitely understand the magic of non-holiday release dates. 

Describing the Endgame’s magic from Avenger’s previous movie, Variety Chief critic Peter Debruge has said, “If "Infinity War" was billed as a must-see event for all moviegoers, whether or not they'd attended a single Marvel movie prior, then "Endgame" is the ultimate fan-service follow-up.”

A cast of 15 Hollywood biggies are involved in the movie such as Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Robert Downey Junior, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland, Jeremy Renner, Josh Brolin, Paul Rudd, Karen Gillan, Sebastian Stan, Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Tom  Hiddleston, Benedict Cumberbatch, Gwyneth Paltrow, Danai Gurira, Evangeline Lilly, Don Cheadle, Katherine Langford, Jon Favreau, Vin Diesel, Anthony Mackie, Ty Simpkins, Michelle Pfeiffer, Benedict Wong, Tilda Swinton, Akihiro Haga and Carrie Coon.
