It is the duty of the government to run the nation but it’s not their work to focus on business and investment. It’s a saying that ‘’Government has no business to be in the business’’. In earlier times, the government used to have the business setups but now there’s no requirement for it. If there’s no requirement now so they have an option to sell the stake. After selling the stake, the government can get a lot of money.

Why government needs money? So that they can balance their expenditures and can spend it into policies or we can say with that money, they can curb the crisis. So, on every Budget, the government set the target of the disinvestment. The more amount the government will spend on disinvestment, the more the market can predict about the benefits, It also gives the idea that which company is going to the what amount of stakes.
The Budget session of the parliament will commence on 31st January 2020 at 11 AM with a joint session of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is presided over by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. Finance minister will present the Union Budget 2020 on 1st February 2020 at 11AM.
