Crack exams, get government jobs; this Whatsapp bulletin is just awesome!

A social activist has been posting an audio news bulletin on social media for the visually-impaired who want to crack competitive exams to secure government jobs. Indore-based Anita Sharma (52) has been preparing the audio news bulletin "Voice For Blind" since 2016 and posting it daily on social media platforms like Whatsapp.

Sharma said she chose WhatsApp due to convenience and the wider reach it offers to her. She said the "Voice for blind" currently reaches 10,000 visually-challenged people everyday across the country. When asked about the trigger behind this initiative, Sharma said while working for the cause of visually divyangs, she realised that many among them are bright but lag behind others in cracking competitive examinations due to the lack of access to standard study material.

"My bulletin reaches 10,000 visually divyangs everyday through Whatsapp and other social media. I choose those news items that will prove useful for these job aspirants. Besides national and international news, I try to accommodate inspirational and positive news items as well," she told PTI.

Sharma said she prepared the bulletin in Hindi on six of seven days per week. "On Sundays, I include English content in the bulletin which I source from editorials printed in English language newspapers".
Sharma claimed she had prepared around 2,000 E-books for the visually-impaired students ranging from class IX to MA in Arts.

Many of these e-books are available in the online "Sugamya Pustakalaya" operated by the Central government. She said, "We are going to incorporate interviews of visually-impaired students who have cracked competitive exams in the audio news bulletin".
