For all those people who have touched cash and coins today, here is a warning! The Indian Bank Association (IBA) has issued an advisory recommending hand wash for all those people who are transacting through currency notes and coins. This money advisory has been issued considering the growing number of coronavirus cases in India and to stop its spread. People run a danger of catching infection if they do not wash their hands after touching money. The association has gone ahead and said that people who are capable of carrying out transactions via online and other digital modes should do it online.
While this would be safe for the customers, it will do a lot of good for the banking employees who will still be working to serve the customers. The bank employees are working under tremendous risks, the association has said. In a public appeal, the IBA has said that the employees should wash their hand for 20 seconds after every direct banking transaction, currency counting. This news has been reported by PTI.
The IBA has also launched a slogan "कोरोना से डरो न, डिजिटल करो न" (Don't fear Corona, go digital) to increase awareness about the disease. A campaign has also be launched along with the slogan. The campaign is stressing on using credit and debit cards.
The IBA has assured customers of an uninterrupted service.
The IBA has also made an appeal to the customers to not visit bank branches unless it is very necessary. Seeking a similar support from the customers, the IBA has said that there is a challenge before the banking fraternity to not only serve the customers in these times of emergency, but also to protect themselves form getting infected.
