Diesel price in India today up 4-5 paise each; Mumbai rate at Rs 69.17 per litre, Chennai sees most hike
All metro cities have witnessed their diesel prices at an all-time high, especially in Mumbai and Chennai, where the product is very expensive for consumers.
Diesel price in India today: Like petrol prices, the state-owned Oil Companies today decided to increase the prices of diesel, in the range of 4 paisa to 5 paisa each per litre compared to previous day in various state capitals of India. In comparison with petrol, the price of diesel has been hiked most by OMCs, in the country on the back of higher international crude oil. All metro cities have witnessed their diesel prices at an all-time high, especially in Mumbai and Chennai, where the product is very expensive for consumers. Meanwhile, prices of petrol were surged between 2 paisa to 3 paisa per litre in various state capital.
Diesel price in New Delhi: Diesel price in the national capital was available at Rs 64.96 per litre, up by 4 paisa compared to previous day price of Rs 64.92 per litre. The prices of New Delhi is just few pasia away from cracking another high of Rs 65 per litre.
Diesel price in Kolkata: Similarly, diesel was available here at Rs 67.65 per litre, higher by 4 paisa as against Rs 67.61 per litre of the previous day. Kolkata has never earmarked near Rs 68 per litre mark in diesel prices.
Diesel price in Mumbai: Diesel here saw most hike, as the product was valued at Rs 69.17 per litre, above 4 paisa versus Rs 69.13 per litre of the previous day. Just petrol, diesel prices in Mumbai also have become most expensive.
Diesel price in Chennai: Unlike the above mentioned cities, diesel price in Chennai stood at Rs 68.53 per litre, higher by 5 paisa as against Rs 68.48 per litre of the previous day.
Diesel prices in other state capitals: The product in Bangalore was available at Rs 66.06 per litre, Bhopal at Rs 68.35 per litre, Bhubaneswar at Rs 69.69 per litre, Chandigarh at Rs 63.06 per litre, Dehradun at Rs 65.29 per litre, Gandhinagar at Rs 69.76 per litre, Hyderabad at Rs 70.58 per litre, Jaipur at Rs 69.27 per litre, Lucknow at Rs 65.13 per litre, Patna at Rs 69.58 per litre, Raipur at Rs 70.16 per litre and Srinagar at Rs 68.28 per litre.
International oil prices dropping by about 2% on Friday, after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened new tariffs on China, reigniting fears of a trade war between the world`s two largest economies that could hurt global growth.
Moreover, on Friday, the Brent crude futures settled down $1.22 at $67.11 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell $1.48 to $62.06 a barrel, a 2.3 percent loss.
Brent crude dropped 2.8 percent in the week while U.S. crude fell 4.4 percent, the biggest weekly decline since early February.
