Diesel price today up 9-10 p; Mumbai, Kolkata see steepest hikes; check rates in other cities
The uptrend in this fuel product happened despite global crude oil falling 1% on Monday as markets opened following western air strikes in Syria and rise in US drilling.
Diesel price in India today: In comparison with petrol prices, the state-owned Oil Companies increased the price of diesel at much higher rate in various state capitals of India, maintaining an-all time high mark. The prices of diesel were raised in the range of 9 paisa to 10 paisa per litre, with Kolkata and Mumbai seeing most hike. Meanwhile the the price of petrol surged by 4 paisa each per litre. The uptrend in Indian fuel product was despite global crude oil fell 1% on Monday as markets opened following western air strikes in Syria over the weekend, while a rise in U.S. drilling for new production also dragged on prices.
Diesel price in New Delhi: Diesel price in the national capital was available at Rs 65.18 per litre higher by 9 paisa from previous day prices of Rs 65.09 per litre.
Diesel price in Kolkata: However, diesel in this city surged by 10 paisa and was available at Rs 67.88 per litre compared to the previous day price of Rs 67.78 per litre.
Diesel price in Mumbai: Also diesel here saw most hike by 10 paisa and was valued at Rs 69.41 per litre versus previous day price of Rs 69.31 per litre. Diesel in this city has been very expensive.
Diesel price in Chennai: The product in this city meantime surged by 9 paisa and stood at Rs 68.76 per litre - in comparison with previous day price of Rs 68.67 per litre.
Diesel prices in other state capitals: The product in Bangalore was available at Rs 66.28 per litre, Bhopal at Rs 68.59 per litre, Bhubaneswar at Rs 69.94 per litre, Chandigarh at Rs 63.28 per litre, Dehradun at Rs 65.48 per litre, Gandhinagar at Rs 70.00 per litre, Hyderabad at Rs 70.82 per litre, Jaipur at Rs 69.50 per litre, Lucknow at Rs 65.32 per litre, Patna at Rs 69.81 per litre, Raipur at Rs 70.39 per litre and Srinagar at Rs 68.49 per litre.
Moreover, Brent crude oil futures were at $71.85 per barrel at 0547 GMT, down 73 cents, or 1 percent, from their last close. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were down 57 cents, or 0.9 percent, at $66.82 a barrel.
