The government may soon provide you with a digital health locker on the lines of Digi Locker made available to people for storing important documents like academic mark sheets, driving licence, PAN, Aadhaar and other important documents. The creation of health locker has been proposed to the health ministry by a committee preparing the framework of National Digital Health Mission.
The health locker will help you keep medical records safely and access them wherever you want across the world.
The government is working on a mission to digitise the health data for a long time.
The committee has suggested the government to provide a unique Personal Health Identity (PHI) number and password to each user for operating the digital health locker. With the availability of the digital health locker, patients won't need to carry their medical records in any corner of the world.
The committee has also suggested the government to take stringent measures to save the data in the health locker. Currently, there is no strong law that could protect health data of people. The government has, however, created a bill for this purpose.
