Flying affordably is now a clear and present option that all airlines are offering. Spicejet has taken this initiative even further and is offering flyers a chance to travel cheaply to a host of new destinations from Uttar Pradesh. Private air carrier SpiceJet today signed an agreement with the Uttar Pradesh government to fly on five new routes of Varanasi-Kolkata, Varanasi-Bengaluru, Kanpur-Mumbai, Kanpur-Bengaluru and Gorakhpur-Bengaluru in the state, under the 'Udaan' initiative programme.
The new routes on which SpiceJet flights will begin after clearances from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry and the UP government, said an official.

The five new routes in the state would go a long way in providing facilities to the people and also developing these areas, the UP chief minister said, adding that earlier there were only three functional airports in the state which have now gone up to five.
The Chief Minister also informed that the UP government was soon planning to open up air services from Bareilly.
Yogi reportedly said that the state government is also planning to provide air services from Azamgarh, Shrawasti, Kushinagar and Moradabad, and added that the number of flights from Uttar Pradesh has also increased under his government.
Suggesting the SpiceJet officials present on the occasion that Gorakhpur-Mumbai and Gorakhpur-Kathmandu (Nepal) could be real money spinners for them, the Chief Minister reportedly said they should explore the possibilities of opening these routes at the earliest.
