Good news for senior citizens in Delhi! First fully paid Tirth Yatra Yojana to be launched from July 12
Senior citizens' dream of going for a Tirth Yatra (pilgrimage) and that too on a fully paid-up trip will be a reality soon in Delhi! The government will start the 'Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yatra Yojana', the first fully paid pilgrimage for senior citizens aged above 60 years from 12 July to different locations in India.
Senior citizens' dream of going for a Tirth Yatra (pilgrimage) and that too on a fully paid-up trip will be a reality soon in Delhi! The government will start the 'Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yatra Yojana', the first fully paid pilgrimage for senior citizens aged above 60 years from 12 July to different locations in India. The Tirth Yojana will include travel, stay, and food for senior citizens.
The first trip under 'Mukhya Mantri Tirth Yatra Yojna', which will follow the Delhi-Amritsar-Wagah Border-Anandpur Sahib route via train, starts on the eve of July 12 from Safdarjung railway station and will go on till July 16. While the second tour will be from 20 to 24 July on Delhi-Vaishno Devi-Jammu corridor.
In addition to these routes, the scheme includes Delhi-Mathura-Vrindavan-Agra-Fatehpur Sikri-Delhi, Delhi-Haridwar-Rishikesh-Neelkanth-Delhi, and Delhi-Ajmer-Pushkar-Delhi routes for this year.
The 77,000 people are selected on a first-come-first-served basis. Each year 1,100 beneficiaries from each of the 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi will be sent on pilgrimage every year.
The 60-plus citizens who are the residents of Delhi and have a certificate from their local MLA saying that they live in the particular constituency can apply for the scheme. For above 70 years senior citizens, the government will also bear the expense of an attendant who is over 21 years.
