GST revenue collection drops to Rs 90,000 crore; Nearly 38 lakh taxpayers filed GSTR-3B
The government said that up to September 25, the total GST revenue collection was Rs 90,669 crore, as against Rs 94,063 crore up to August 31.
Government on Tuesday released Goods and Service Tax (GST) revenue figures. As per the data, the revenue collection based on the filing in August, has dropped.
Earlier, upto August 31, the government had stated that GST revenue collection was of Rs 94,063 crore. These collection was after the filing of returns for the month of July. While, now, the government said that up to September 25, the total revenue collection was Rs 90,669 crore.
Giving the bifurcation of the revenue collected in September, the data said, "The total Central GST revenue was Rs 14,402 crore, State GST revenue was Rs 21,067 crore, Integrated GST revenue was Rs 47,377 crore, of which IGST from imports in August 2017 was Rs 23,180 crore. Compensation Cess was Rs 7,823 crore, of which Rs 547 crore was Compensation Cess from imports in August 2017."
Moreover, as per the data, the total number of taxpayers who were required to file monthly GSTR-3B returns for August was 68.20 lakh, out of which 37.63 lakh assesses have filed the return as on September 25, 2017.
The last for payment of GST as well as filing of GST-B return for the month of August was September 20.
However, the government said that the above figures do not include the GST to be paid by 10.24 lakh assessees who have opted for the composition scheme. Additionally, there are still a number of assessees who have not filed their return either for July or August, 2017. The increase in the above stated.
