How to remove Aadhaar from bank account, Paytm wallet; This is what you must do
The Supreme Court has upheld the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar after it was satisfied with the security measures put in place to protect the data and ensure privacy of the individual is maintained.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday had said that linking Aadhaar with a bank account or digital wallets like Paytm is not mandatory. The court also said that private companies can't ask for Aadhaar either. The apex court also said that Aadhaar is also not mandatory for admission schools, new SIM cards, opening bank accounts, and for appearing in CBSE, NET and UGC exams.
The apex court has upheld the Constitutional validity of Aadhaar after it was satisfied with the security measures put in place to protect the data and ensure privacy of the individual is maintained. A five-judge bench led by CJI Dipak Misra also asked the Centre to strengthen the security measures and to reduce the storage period of the data.
However, if you have linked your Aadhaar with your bank account or digital wallet like Paytm, you do not need to worry. You can delink your account by following some simple steps.
Delinking from Bank Account?
If you want to de-link your Aadhaar with your bank account, you need to visit your branch. However, keep in mind one thing. If you delink your Aadhaar from your bank account, you may not receive the benefits of welfare schemes and subsidies as the SC order has said that Aadhaar is mandatory for availing welfare schemes and subsidies by the government.

De-linking digital wallets?
To de-link your Aadhaar with digital wallets like Paytm, you need to call at the customer care number. You will get either a message or email in response and your Aadhaar may get de-linked in three to four working days.
