Indian Railways cancels these trains travelling to Puri, Bhubaneswar, more due to Cyclone Fani - Check full list
Trains have been cancelled up till May 08, majority of them travelling to Puri and Bhubaneswar. One can, in fact, expect the number of cancellations to be even higher on May 03.
Many trains are either being diverted or cancelled by East Coast Railways, as a precautionary move due to Cyclone Fani also known as Foni emerging in the Bay of Bengal. Reports have been stating that, Foni will hit Odisha creating landfall at around 5:30 PM on May 03 in south Puri. It is being considered as the strongest cyclone to ever hit the state, with a speed of some 200 kmph. Following which, trains have been cancelled up till May 08, majority of them travelling to Puri and Bhubaneswar. One can, in fact, expect the number of cancellation to be even higher on May 03.
ECoR via their twitter account has released the list of trains that have been cancelled or diverted from April 25 to May 08, 2019.
From Puri, train number namely 22890 Puri to Digha Express has been cancelled leaving on May 04. Similarly, Digha to Puri express having number 22889 has been cancelled on May 05.
Further, trains such as Visakhapatnam - Paradeep Express number 22810, Paradeep - Visakhapatnam number 22809, Paradeep - Santragachi Express number 22814, Santragachi - Paradeep Express number 22813, Visakhapatnam - Digha Express number 22874 and Digha - Visakhapatnam Express number 22973 have been cancelled which were scheduled to depart from tomorrow up till May 08.
Apart from this, trains from Lokmanya Tilak T. to Bhubaneswar and Puri have been diverted to other routes. Also Puri - Hatia Express and Puri - Durg express have been diverted.
Recently, a Times of India report revealed that some 74 trains have been cancelled near the Cyclone region.
From Foni, regions which will be affected are expected to be Ganjam, Khurda, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Balasore districts, Puri, Bhadrak and Kendrapara. Also, Bengal will face some heat of this cyclone, as regions like Howrah, Hoogli, Kolkata and south and north 24 Parganas. In Andhra Pradesh, regions like Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Vijayanagaram districts will face the impact.
