Indian Railways summer internship on offer! Do this to land it

When we think about summer, words like holidays, fun, vacations come to our mind. There are hundreds of ways to make your summer bright, but what if we make this period a skill-building exercise and that too with Indian Railways? Especially if you are an engineering  or MBA student?

Yes, from 2015, The Indian Railways organizes summer internship. This internship programme is conducted by Zonal Railways, production units and PSUs of Indian Railways. In this programme, students study topics like logistics, financial management, HR, materials management, project management and other technical matters related to Railways. The students pursuing graduation, Post graduation in Engineering and MBA can participate in this internship. The duration of this internship programme is for 2 moths.

It’s a golden opportunity for those students who are studying transportation technology and transportation management so, they should go for it!

Not everyone can participate in this, they have to go through a selection process, Candidates will be selected on the basis of merit plus candidates who have obtained first class graduate degree in the qualifying exam are eligible to apply for the internship, but if you are expecting money from this or any kind of facility, then don’t do this! Remember Its not a paid internship and interns won’t get  any facilities like boarding and lodging.

Back in 2014-2015,This summer internship was announced in annual railway budget which was presented by former Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda. It was also proposed to set up an Innovations Incubation Center.  Last year the internship was announced in April,2019. The motive behind  this was to increase the efficiency of the system and to harness the ideas formed by the staff of Indian railways and to convert them into practical solutions.
