On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, a festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Modi Tweeted "Ganpati Bappa Morya! Wishing everyone a blessed Ganesh Chaturthi."

Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated with immense fervour and gaiety in the country and is marked as the largest festival in Maharashtra as well as in Karnataka. Bappa's Devotees offer modak (type of sweet) to Lord Ganesha and celebrate this festival for 10 days.
