Pensioners, unorganised sector employees stage a dharna at EPF office
Of nearly 60 lakh pensioners under EPS-95, close to 40 lakh reportedly receive a sum of below Rs 1,500 per month and others a maximum of Rs 2,000-2,500.
Thousands of pensioners ( 60 years- 80 years old) took part in a dharna at EPF office in the national capital today to press for their set of demands.
During their dhanrna, the EPS 95 National Agitation Committee briefed on demands raised by 17 crore unorganised sector employees and pensioners in India.
The meeting was addressed by Commander Ashok Raut, National Convenor, All India EPS95 Pensioners Sangharsh Samiti.
The EPS-95 National Agitation Committee is pushing for a minimum pension of Rs 7,500 under the Employees Pension Scheme 1995 (EPS-95) for the retired staff throughout India.
Currently, EPS-95 provides for a minimum monthly pension of Rs 1,000, a statement earlier issued by the committee said.

EPS-95 is one of the social security schemes run by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
