Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari, on Tuesday rejected resignation letter of Vijay Mallya on proceedural grounds. The liquor baron had submitted his resignation to Ethics Committee on Monday.
"Mallya resignation letter not according to procedure, does not bear signature in original", said Rajya Sabha Secretary General.
Mallya is an independent member of the House from Karnataka and is under the scanner of Enforcement Directorate for defaulting bank loans of over Rs 9,000 crore.
Last week, the Ministry of External Affairs revoked Mallya's passport and asked United Kingdom for his deportation.
