Sensex, Nifty closes in green; RIL top gainer
Bharat Electronics offer for sale which opened today got oversubscribed by 2.5 times on the first day of issue.
Indices on Wednesday closed on a higher note. BSE Sensex ended at 28,864.71, up 103.12 points or 0.36%, while, NSE Nifty closed at 8,926.90, up 19.05 points or 0.21%.
On 30-share benchmark, among top gainers were Reliance Industries (10.97%), Axis Bank (3.93%), Asian Paint (2.92%), Coal India (2.63%) and Hero MotoCorp (1.16%). Among top losers were NTPC (-3.36%), Tata Consultancy Services (-2.22%), Power Grid (-2.19%), Infosys (-2.08%) and Tata Steel (-1.49%).
Reliance Industries' shares hit eight-year high during the afternoon trade session after its CMD Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday announced his plans to monetise Reliance Jio. The shares of the company closed at Rs 1207.65 per piece, up 10.97% or Rs 119.40.
Bharat Electronics offer for sale which opened today got oversubscribed by 2.5 times on the first day of issue. The shares of the company closed at Rs 1510.25 per piece, down 3.19% or Rs 49.70 on BSE.
Rupee closed at 66.96 as against US Dollar, up by 0.071 paisa.
