Super 30 box office collection day 1: Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 finally hit the theatres on Friday after months of delays and multiple controversies. Super 30 is not facing any competition from other new big releases and has got off to a sedate start. Movie critic, business analyst and influencer Sumit Kadel tweeted on Friday morning that Super 30 has released to 25 per cent to 30 per cent opening. One would expect Super 30 film to do better in the evening shows. Notably though, Hrithik Roshan has not received any boost from the reviews, which have not given the film a positive rating. Hrithik Roshan's last release was Mohan Jodaro.
This could hurt film's growth going forward. Also, although there is no new film release to hurt Super 30 at the box office, what goes against the Hrithik Roshan starrer is that Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh is refusing to slow down despite entering its fourth week. "#Super30 off to a mediocre start at the box office, film opened with 25-30% occupancy across India. Poised to grow noon shows onward," Kadel tweeted on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, Kabir Singh is continuing its dream run and is already the highest earning film of 2019. The film has surpassed Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike and is nearing the Rs 250-crore mark. "#KabirSingh had a MINDBLOWING 3rd week, nears ₹ 250 cr mark as it collected ₹ 3.32 cr. Total- ₹ 249.60 cr nett," Kadel said in another tweet.
Earlier, Kadel had predicted that Super 30 might earn around Rs 12 to 13 crore on the opening day. He had said that film's trailer has received a fabulous response and Hrithik Roshan is looking dynamic in the new look. Super 30 is based on the story of mathematician Anand Kumar and also stars Mrunal Thakur, Virendra Saxena, Nandish Singh and Pankaj Tripathi in important roles.
The film was in news a day before its release as Anand Kumar revealed that he is suffering from a brain tumour. Kumar opened up about his battle with acoustic neuroma, a non-cancerous tumour. Kumar said that trouble began in 2014, when he was "unable to hear" in his right ear. Tests revealed nearly 90 per cent of his hearing ability in the ear had been destroyed. He then got himself checked at Delhi`s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Kumar said that he was told that he had no issues with his ear but a tumour had developed in the nerve that runs from ear to brain.
