A complete list of the pay channels with their maximum retail prices has been released by the Telecom regulator TRAI on Tuesday. Customers will pay only for those TV channels that they wish to watch. All the major TV networks have announced the tariffs of their channels along with the tariffs of the channels grouped together.
TRAI has come up with this new plan so that the customers do not have to pay for those channels that they do not wish to watch. This new tariff regime will allow the customers to select 100 channels amongst which 26 would be mandatory Doordarshan channels, which will cost Rs 130 excluding 18 per cent GST. By paying another Rs 20, the viewers would be able to avail another 25 channels under free to air (FTA) category.
The broadcasters need to draft per month retail price (MRP) of the channels, according to the new orders by TRAI.
