UP Budget 2020: Good news for youth - Employment, stipend and more!

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday presented a Rs 5,12,860.72 crore budget for FY 2020-21 in the state assembly. The budget, the size of which is Rs 33,159 crore more than last year's budget, has provisions worth Rs 10,967.87 crore for new schemes. Noteworthy, the Uttar Pradesh government announced two new schemes to promote and help the youth of the state. Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the budget in the presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This is the fourth budget of the Yogi Adityanath-led government.
CMAPS and YUVA Schemes by Yogi Adityanath
During his budget speech, state Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (CMAPS) and the Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan (YUVA) will make the youth self-dependent.
CMAPS: Chief Minister Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme
-A provision of Rs 100 crore has been made under the CMAPS to impart on-job training to the youth of the state in MSME units and link them with an employment of definite period.
-Under the scheme, they will not only be provided training but also be given a stipend.
-Out of the total amount of stipend, Rs 1,500 will be borne by the Centre, Rs 1,000 by the state and the remaining amount by the industry concerned
YUVA: Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan
- A novel initiative is being taken through the Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan (YUVA) to provide employment to lakhs of trained youths in the state
- A 'YUVA Hub' will be set up in every district of the state
- An amount of Rs 50 crore is proposed for setting up 'YUVA Hub' in every district
- A target has been fixed to train two lakh youths under various training programmes of the UP Skill Development Mission
Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh government in its Budget 2020-21, presented in the state Assembly on Tuesday, has laid emphasis on developing metro networks, airports and expressways, besides fixing a target to build four lakh houses for weaker sections by March 2021.
