Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is earning praises after announcing on Saturday that he will be donating Rs 25 crore to the emergency fund launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fight coronavirus. Even PM Narendra Modi has appreciated Akshay Kumar's effort and replied, "Great gesture Akshay Kumar. Let's keep donating for a healthier India."
Now, Akshay's wife Twinkle Khanna has revealed an interesting story behind Akshay Kumar's Rs 25 cr coronavirus donation. Twinkle says Akshay makes her proud. Twinkle revealed she asked Akshay if he was sure as it was such a massive amount (Rs 25 crores). According to Twinkle, Akshay said that he had nothing when he started and now that he is in this position, how can he hold back from doing whatever he can for those who have nothing.
Twinkle tweeted, "The man makes me proud. When I asked him if he was sure as it was such a massive amount and we needed to liquidate funds, he just said, ‘ I had nothing when I started and now that I am in this position, how can I hold back from doing whatever I can for those who have nothing.’"

PM Modi on Saturday announced the creation of the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES) where people can contribute and help the government in the fight against the COVID-19.
The PM-CARES Fund accepts micro-donations too. It will strengthen disaster management capacities and encourage research on protecting citizens.

The country is witnessing a 21-day lockdown, as announced by the PM, to contain the spread of the virus. According to the health ministry, the number of COVID-19 cases crossed 979 in India on Sunday with the death toll rising to 25.
