Amid the rapid increase in the number of positive coronavirus cases in the country, 57.5 per cent people believe the situation will get better over the next month, while 17.6 per cent believe it will get worse. The total positive cases in India have surged past 1,000, and resulted in 29 deaths.
Globally, the virus has claimed over 33,000 lives and infected over six lakh people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had imposed an unprecedented 21-days lockdown on March 25 to curb the spread of coronavirus. The decision was aimed at completely halting the movement of people to stem the transmission of the coronavirus in the community.
According to a survey conducted by IANS C-VOTER Gallup International Association Corona Tracker, response was sought on -- when thinking about the coronavirus in India which of the following do you think is most likely to happen over the next month?

In the middle of March, 61.2 per cent believed we are over the worst of it-things will begin to improve. This dropped to 57.5 per cent in the last week. Besides, 18.3 per cent people could not say anything, which has increased from 10.6 per cent registered in the middle of this month.
People who think the worst is yet to come were 18 per cent in the middle of March, and reduced marginally to 17.6 by last week. Besides, 6.5 per cent people believe situation will remain largely the same as it is now in the last week of March, whereas 10.2 per cent said so in the middle of the month.

The net optimism in the middle of the March was 43.2 per cent which reduced to 39.9 per cent in the last week of the month. Therefore, on the index of optimism, there is change of -3.3 per cent.
