These firms were duped on the pretext of inviting tenders to organise an event, Rashtriya Awas Divas, for the promotion of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has come as a blessing for a huge number of people who wanted a house of their own. However, it has come to light that a massive number of people have lost money as unscrupulous people have started targetting and taking advantage of innocent people who have looked at PMAY to get a home of their own. As many as 2000 people have lost their money in this particular scam alone. Those who are looking to buy must beware they do not fall victim to such scams and instead derive the greatest benefits from this fine government scheme.
So, to ensure they do not lose their hard-earned money and yet get a house of their own under this scheme, they must know how to go about making the purchase. Notably, as many as 2,000 people have been duped of over Rs 3 crore by a person, who allegedly used official pictures, of the prime minister of India and the Government of India, to promote his organisation, promising these persons cheap houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, according to Hindustan newspaper. The details of the losses suffered by these people in this scam by a 57-year-old man were revealed recently by Delhi's Narcotics cell.

The modus operandi by the scamster was through an NGO named LIC Policy Holders Welfare Organisation.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: How to Apply for PMAY?
If you are interested to seek house under PMAY, you can apply in the following way:-
Those who are economically weaker sections, including Low-Income Groups (LIG), Middle-Income Groups (MIG) and EWS, can be considered as beneficiaries. Those under EWS should have an annual income cap of Rs 3 lakh, LIGs have a cap of Rs 3 to 6 lakh, and MIGs have a cap of Rs 6 to 18 lakh. You need to follow the steps given below:
1. First, visit Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana official website at https://pmaymis.gov.in/
2. Under the citizen assessment drop-down, select the benefits under 3 components shown on the page
3. Enter your Aadhaar details to proceed. This is mandatory for enrolling in PMAY
4. After completing Aadhaar details, you will be redirected to the application form to your details accurately
5. After completing this process, click on ‘Save’ and enter the Captcha code.
6. Further, you should click on ‘Save’ to complete your application. Now you can take a print out for future reference.
Here are the details as to who is eligible for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). There are three schemes that include 1-EWS (Economically Weaker Sections)/LIG (Low Income Group); 2-CLSS (MIG-I); and 3-CLSS (MIG-II).
Key eligibility under EWS/LIG Scheme
1. You must not own a pucca house either in your name or in the name of any member of your family in any part of India.
2. One adult female membership is mandatory in the property ownership.
3. Whoever applying under EWS scheme must have an annual income up to Rs 3 lakhs.
4. Whoever applying under EWS scheme must have an annual income between Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 6 lakhs.
5. The scheme will be for the period of 17th June 2015 to 31st March 2022.
6. Carpet area of the house under these Schemes should up to 30 sq mts for EWS beneficiaries and upto 60 sq mts. for LIG beneficiaries.
7. This scheme is available for housing loans availed for acquisition/construction of house and repair/extension of Kucha/Semi Pucca house.
8. The maximum term of the loan is 20 years.
9. The maximum age limit is 70 years of age, at the end of the repayment period.
Key eligibility under CLSS (MIG-I) Scheme
1. You must not own a pucca house either in your name or in the name of any member of your family in any part of India.
2. You must not have availed any central/state assistance under any housing plan from government ever.
3. Adult female membership ownership in property is desirable.
4. The credit linked subsidy @ 4% will be available for loan amount up to Rs 9 lakhs in case of MIG-I. The banks can sanction loans over Rs 9 lakhs, but subsidy will be availed for only Rs 9 lakhs.
5. Loan tenure is 20 years, but banks can sanction loans up to 30 years. The loan has to be repaid before the borrower attains the age of 70 years.
6. You can apply for MIG-I if your annual income is from Rs 6,00,001 to Rs 12 lakhs.
7. The carpet area of house under this scheme should be up to 120 sq mts (1292 sq ft) for MIG-I beneficiaries.
Key eligibility under CLSS (MIG-II) scheme
1. You must not own a pucca house either in your name or in the name of any member of your family in any part of India.
2. You must not have availed any central/state assistance under any housing plan from government ever.
3. The credit linked subsidy @3% for Rs 12 lakhs in case of MIG-II. The banks can sanction Home Loans more than Rs 12 lakhs but the subsidy will be restricted to Rs 12 lakhs only.
4. Home loan tenure is 20 years, but banks can sanction it for a maximum tenor of 30 years. The loan has to be repaid before the borrower attains the age of 70 years.
5. You are eligible to apply for MIG-II if your annual income is from Rs 12,00,001 to Rs 18 lakhs.
6. The carpet area of house under this scheme is up to 150 sq mts (1614 sq ft) for MIG-II beneficiaries.
