According to the SBI official website — onlinesbi.com and sbi.co.in — one can open the SBI Savings account online by logging in at the home page of the SBI's official portal. At the home page, a single click at the 'Apply Now' option leads to SBI Online account open process. Here is the step by step guide on how to open SBI Savings Account online:
1] Go to the home page of SBI official web page;
2] Click at the "Apply Now" option on the SBI home page;
3] Select 'Savings Account' option;
4] SBI Online form will get opened on your computer screen;
5] Do the SBI Online KYC by filling up the details like name, address, date of birth and other various details and click at "Submit" button;
6] Your SBI Online account open form is submitted and then the nearest SBI branch will intimate you to visit the SBI branch with the KYC documents that you had submitted while filling the SBI Online form;
7] On submission of the documents, the bank will initiate the verification process; and
8] Following approval, the SBI online account will be activated within 3-5 bank working days.
To avoid rejection of the SBI Online form, one must make sure about the following documents for SBI Online KYC:
1] Identity proof — Passport, Driving License or DL, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card;
2] Address Proof — Passport, Driving License or DL, Voter ID, Aadhaar Card;
3] PAN Card;
4] Form 16 (In case the PAN Card is not available); and
5] Two latest passport size photographs.
