Great Indian Sale: Amazon launches support services for sellers in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu
Ahead of its Great Indian Sale, e-commerce major, Amazon India on Monday announced the launch of support services for sellers in three regional languages - Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.
“Extending its support service offered currently in Hindi & English, sellers will now have the flexibility to opt for a callback option from Amazon India’s seller support associates in these regional languages,” the company said.
The company said that it expects this initiative to help sellers gear up for the Great Indian Sale which will be held from January 20 to 22 on its portal.
“The initiative will enable sellers to comfortably and efficiently receive guidance and resolve their business queries with speed & ease, aiding them to prepare better for the upcoming Great Indian Sale on the marketplace from January 20th to 22nd, 2016,” Amazon said.
After its pilot launch in December last year, Amazon said that it will now take this service national as many sellers requested for callbacks in their preferred language of choice.
“India’s linguistic diversity is a huge opportunity for us to expand our seller support services to drive engagement with sellers and empower them to grow profitably on our platform. Especially with the upcoming Great Indian Sale, sellers will be now able to interact with our support services staff in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu in addition to Hindi & English,” Gopal Pillai, Director & GM, Seller Services, Amazon India said.
In addition to states in India with predominantly Hindi speaking population, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Telangana have emerged as the top three states in the country with a huge seller base who prefer support services in their local languages, the company added.
“By introducing multilingual seller support services, keeping our sellers’ comfort in mind, we are positive that we will be able help more and more sellers reap benefits from the sale and the digital commerce revolution we are witnessing in India,” Pillai added.
The company claimed that its ‘global selling program’ which was launched last year in May had garnered over 18,000 sellers.
Along with the Great Indian Sale, Amazon said that it would also set up its flagship ‘Seller Cafes’ across the country to provide on-ground seller support, wherein sellers could get their issues addressed.
“To be able to converse and share our issues with the support teams in local language is a huge benefit for us. I am sure this service will help me resolve my concerns or get any guidance in the quickest manner possible. Look forward to more such seller-centric initiatives from Amazon,” Balakrishnan, Owner of SRI ABIMITHRA TEX said.
