Three Startups that let you rent trucks, scooters
There are some start ups that enables you to rent vehicles for your need, when and where ever required.
Traffic is a constant problem faced by many people in India. The ever increasing number of vehicles on the road is not only problematic to commuters but also a major cause of environmental pollution. There are some start ups that enable you to rent vehicles for your need, when and where ever required. Moreover, these start ups specially curate for needs like solo commutation or delivery purposes, wherein four vehicle rental system do not comply.
1. TruckEasy
Founded in 2015, TruckEasy was started by Nikhil Thomas, Vikram Kodgi and Avinash Achar with the idea of 'Uber-for-trucks', wherein the customer can book a truck similar to how one rents a cab i.e on a mobile application. The startup provides its customer with variants of mini trucks, for various utilization like shifting or delivery. Moreover, the prices of rental of these trucks is also easy on the pockets.
Tata Motors has collaborated with TruckEasy and provides the service with its three mini truck variants i.e Tata Ace, Tata Super Ace and Tata Ace Lite. The rental prices fall between Rs 200-350 for the first kilometer to Rs 20-25 for distance between 2km-15km. Above 15kms, the rental price increases by Rs 25-30 per kilometer. Additional charges of waiting or toll is applicable only when required.
TruckEasy currently provides its services in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.
2. Vogo
Aiming to give people their individual mode of transportation instead of being stuck in a traffic jam inside a cab, Vogo was started by Anand Ayyadurai, Sanchit Mittal and Padmanabhanb in 2016. Vogo is a startup where one can rent a scooter to travel around the city in his or her own convenience and pay for the amount of distance travelled. One just needs to log in on the app, scan the QR code at the nearest Vogo station and unlock the scooter. Vogo charges just Rs 3.5 per kilometer, making it an affordable means of commutation.
Vogo currently has its services in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
3. Yulu
With rise in environmental awareness, Amit Gupta started Yulu in 2018. This is a bicycle renting start up where one can rent a bicycle to travel short distance in a city and cut on the time consumed in commutation through traffic jams. Moreover, since it involves bicycles, this rental service is also eco-friendly. As of now, Yulu is in the initial stages in metro cities like Pune and Bangalore. It is expected to cover around 30 cities by the end of this year.
