Apple WWDC 2017: Is this the new iPhone? Find out how to live-stream the event

Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) begins today and continues till June 9 in San Jose, California. The WWDC is an annual event and gives a glimpse into what the global tech giant is planning for the year. It is also a precursor to the iPhone launch which takes place around fall.

Apple's WWDC 2017 key note will start at 10:30pm IST on Monday. What is more important is the operating system developments that Apple introduces during this conference and what app developers can look forward to in the iOS developing ecosystem.

Some of Apple's key announcements are expected to made this year and most of them this year are expected to focus on the software rather than the hardware.

For those who are not there in San Jose, they can catch the live streaming of Apple's key note speech and other announcements from the company's own website. For those who have an Apple device streaming is much easier as Apple uses its own HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology which can be used on devices like an iPhone, iPad and MacBook. Even AppleTV and iPods are supported as well.

Some of the key announcements expected to be made this year's WWDC is the showcasing of the iOS 11, which could include an updated user interface and a 'dark mode'.

Another announcement could be Apple's Mail and Safari apps that could get support for the Apple Pencil. The new iPad Pro related features could also be announced.

Apple is also likely to update its own apps in iOS 11. Other than this it is expected to launch new versions of the macOS, tvOS and watchOS at the event.

Besides the focus on software developments at WWDC 2017, it may also look at introducing some hardware changes. There are reports that Apple may introduce new MacBooks at the event along with its Siri home speaker.

Apple may also introduce a refreshed iPad lineup.

Apple is expected to introduce three new MacBooks, ie an upgraded MacBook Pro with a new Intel Kaby Lake processor, the 12-inch MacBook will also get a faster processor and the 13-inch MacBook Air would also be upgraded with a next generation processor, according to Bloomberg reports.

Apple's MacBook Air is currently priced at Rs 55,000 in both online and offline stores. If Apple introduces a new version it will have to be seen how much change in the price there will be.

Apple's new Siri-powered speaker will be introduced to compete with Google Home and Amazon's Alexa. While it is not expected to be shipped this year, the Siri-speaker is expected to the hub to control appliances, lights in the home via Apple's HomeKit system.
