Black Shark 3 likely to be first smartphone ever to come with 16GB of RAM, turn most powerful handset till date

There was a time when laptop users would have been happy with 512Mb RAM. These days even 12GB is not enough and that too, on smartphones! In 2019, several smartphone brands like Asus, Samsung and Black Shark came up with devices that offered up to 12GB of RAM and in 2020, a new benchmark may well be set. If recent leaks are anything to go by, Black Shark 3 could be the first smartphone to come up with 16GB of RAM, making it the most powerful smartphone till date.

Dubbed as Black Shark 3 5G, the upcoming phone has been certified by MIIT, a Chinese certification website. The certification reveals that the new smartphone will come with 16GB of RAM. As of now, only a few smartphones like Black Shark 2, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus and ROG Phone 2 offer up to 12GB of RAM.

If the reports are true, we might soon have the first smartphone with 16GB RAM - a feature that is missing even on most budget laptops. The listing was shared on Twitter by tipster @Sudhanshu1414 for a Black Shark smartphone with model number ‘SHARK KLE-A0’. The listing doesn't reveal much information about the phone apart from the fact that it will come with 5G connectivity.

The smartphone will follow Black Shark 2 Pro which launched with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset and a 4,000mAh battery with support for 27W fast charge. The new smartphone, however, is tipped to pack a 4,700 mAh battery.

It will be interesting to see when and if the smartphone comes to India.
