It has been confirmed that Realme X, launched in China last week, will be priced at around Rs 18,000 in India and might have different specifications than the Chinese version. Both the developments have been confirmed by Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth. "#realmeX may not necessarily launch at the same specs in India. We are planning to have an #realmeXIndian version and pricing maybe around 18k," Sheth tweeted. He also confirmed that the smartphone will come to India in a third colour variant, apart from Garlic and Onion.
He did not reveal the details of the launch event of Realme X in India. A similar strategy was followed by Xiaomi earlier this year when it launched the Redmi Note 7 in India. The smartphone came with different specs than the phone launched in China. In India, Xiaomi offers the 48MP camera in the Redmi Note 7 Pro instead of the Redmi Note 7.
Realme X price in China starts at NY 1,499 (roughly Rs 15,400) for the 4GB + 64GB storage variant, the 6GB + 64GB variant has been priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs 16,400) and 8GB + 128GB variant would cost CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,500). In China, the smartphone runs Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.0. It has a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) AMOLED screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 91.2 percent screen-to-body ratio, Gorilla Glass 5, and in-display fingerprint sensor.
Earlier, Sheth had confirmed that Realme will be ready with its 5G devices before telecom operators in India start offering the fifth generation network services. "We will be launching 5G services much before the operators... we want consumers in India to enter 5G services as such," he had said.
Speaking on the sales of the recently launched Realme 3 in India, the CEO said: "Realme 3 was the highest sold model online for the month of March and more than 1.70 lakh units were sold in less than eight minutes of its first online sale." Around 80-90 per cent sales of the company come from online sales and the company would now emphasise more on the offline segment, he added.
