Gamers' delight! Black Shark 2 with Snapdragon 855 Plus to be launched tomorrow, will take on Asus ROG Phone 2

The second half of July is turning out to be highly exciting for gamers. Days after Asus launched its powerful gaming smartphone Asus ROG Phone 2, Black Shark is set to introduce its latest offering, the Black Shark 2 Pro on July 30. The latest offering comes as an upgrade to the Black Shark 2 that was launched in India recently. Ahead of the phone's official launch, it has been confirmed that the Black Shark 2 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC which has also been used on the ROG 2. The presence of the world's most powerful processor was confirmed by the company through a video teaser posted on Weibo. 

The Snapdragon 855 Plus processor is an upgrade over the existing Snapdragon 855 SoC which powers flagship smartphones like the OnePlus 7 Pro and the Redmi K20 Pro. The 855 Plus processor is touted to deliver 15 percent better graphics performance over the previous version. The processor was introduced earlier this month and made its debut with the Asus ROG Phone 2. Apart from Black Shark 2, it is also likely to power the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 which is set to be launched in New York on August 7. 

The Black Shark 2 Pro has also made an appearance on the Black Shark online store that reveals the presence of DC Dimming 2.0 and Liquid Cooling 3.0+. The smartphone is expected to come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It is likely to have a similar rear panel as the Black Shark 2.

The Pro model will be launched in China on July 30 and can soon make its way to India. However, no date has been announced for the same. The Black Shark 2 was launched in China in March with the Snapdragon 855 SoC and was brought to India in May.

Asus Rog 2 price

Meanwhile, Asus ROG 2 price has been kept at a competitive point by the company. In China, the Asus ROG 2 price starts at CNY 3,499 (Approx Rs. 35,000) for the base configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of in-built storage with Tencent Depth Customisation. The ROG Phone 2 standard version is priced at CNY 5,999 (roughly Rs. 60,000) and offers 12GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable storage. The phone will be available in two other variants - the Zhizun version which will start at CNY 7999 (approx Rs 80,000), while the Esports Armor model that’s priced at CNY 12999 (Approx Rs 1,30,000).
