Google rolls out Android Nougat 7.1.2 Beta update for Pixel, Nexus devices
The Android Beta update will initially be available on Google devices such as the Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player and Pixel C.
A new update of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat update has been released by Google on Monday. The new beta will be rolled out on devices which have enrolled in the Android Beta Program. Google claims that this new update will fix a number of bugs and brings in new features.
The update will initially be available on Google devices such as the Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player and Pixel C. Google has said that the company has confirmed that an update for Nexus 6P can be expected to be released soon.
However, for devices other then the Google smartphones, people can get the update through the Android Beta Program. To enroll for the new update people have to visit android.com/beta and opt for eligible Android phone or tablet. People can also download and flash this update manually, said the report.
“Android 7.1.2 is an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements, so it includes a number of bugfixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users,” said Dave Burke, VP of Engineering at Google.
He further said that the final release of the Android 7.1.2 Nougat is expected to be available in a couple of months.
Google however has not included the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 as eligible devices for the latest update of Android 7.1.2. This could mean it could be the end of the line for these devices in terms of updates.
