Technology giant, Google has rolled out its new feature of auto delete for location history and activity data for their users, which was introduced back in early May.
"Auto-delete controls for Location History start rolling out today on Android and iOS, making it even easier for you to manage your data," Google tweeted on Wednesday.
The feature comes after an emphasis on user privacy during a developer conference where firms such as Google and Apple said they would begin introducing tools to let users have more control over what data they share with the them or third-party apps, IANS report said.
Google blog mentioned that users can already use Google account to access simple on/off controls for location history and Web activity to delete data manually. In addition to prior options, Google introduced new auto-delete control option that will make it easier to manage data.
Under the new control feature, you can choose a time limit for how long you want your activity data to be saved either for three or 18 months, any data older than that will be automatically deleted from the account on the regular basis.
Steps to apply the auto-delete option:
1. Open Web and activity on your account and click on "choose to delete automatically" option.
2. choose the option among:
-keep until I delete manually
-keep for 18 months
-keep for 3 months
3. And click on 'Confirm'option
"When you turn on settings like Location History or Web & App Activity, the data can make Google products more useful for you—like recommending a restaurant that you might enjoy, or helping you pick up where you left off on a previous search," Google blog added.
