How to recover deleted Whatsapp photos and videos: The most widely used messaging app in India, WhatsApp, has come out with a new feature for its users, who can now re-download their media content, including images, videos, voice messages and documents, from its servers after the content has been deleted from device. This feature was not available on WhatsApp, and the content deleted once was gone forever. Now, users can re-download their lost content on version 2.18.113.
According to reports, WhatsApp earlier stored 'undownloaded' media content on its servers for merely 30 days, and deleted the content once users viewed it on their devices. Once user deleted that content from the WhatsApp folder on their device, they were not able to retrieve it. But that is passe now, as the latest update will allow a user to re-download content from the app. But, this will work for content that has been received in the past few months and users deleted the file but not the chat in the app. Currently, this feature works only on Android not on iOS.
Notably, WhatsApp beta users might have noticed a bug affecting the timestamp of chats on the app on version 2.18.109. Users should know that the first characters in the timestamp 'Yesterday' 'Today' are being replaced by their ASCII equivalent like '89esterday' and '84oday'. The operability of the app was not affected, but users noticed it and reported the issue to WhatsApp, which then rolled out a patch in version 2.18.112 to fix the issue.
WhatsApp beta version 2.18.109, which has recently been rolled out for app users, had the timestamp issue. As mentioned in the earlier para through the examples of 'Yesterday' and 'Today' 89, this bug was spotted and fixed on April 14.
Since the messaging App is gaining popularity with each passing day, it is expanding features to add to its business also. WhatsApp is reportedly coming to the business of digital payments very soon.
According to an Economic Times report, the app is at various stages of integrating its Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based payments platform with State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.

Person familiar with the development told ET, "The platform is already in beta stage (testing) with one of its partner banks. We expect the product to go live for consumers by the end of February, depending on how the trials work out."
Bankers reportedly say that there are various security concerns that first need to be addressed before the integration, especially with regard to data of bank customers.
