Yes, it's happening! Huawei has announced the launch date for its upcoming flagship series. The company has confirmed on its Twitter handle that the Huawei Mate 30 series will be launched in Munich, Germany on September 19. The series is of major significance for Huawei which finds itself caught between the US-China trade tensions. The smartphone maker has been banned from using Google’s Android OS which forced it to come up with its own operating system. According to a report by Reuters, the Mate 30 series could be the first by Huawei to arrive without Android.
This comes after the Chinese smartphone manufacturer was blacklisted by the US government which led to the company being banned from using Google’s official Android licence. Huawei did get a relief after the ban was partially lifted, allowing Google to provide software and security updates to existing Huawei and Honor devices.
However, the conditions remain the same for the upcoming smartphones of the company. "Did you get it right? The countdown to #HuaweiMate30 starts now! We're going full circle in Munich on 19.09.2019," Huawei tweeted, while confirming the launch of the Mate 30 series.

Huawei is expected to launch Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30 Lite smartphones as part of its new flagship series. Just like the previous flagship smartphones by Huawei, both these smartphones will also feature Leica powered cameras. It is believed that Huawei Mate 30 Pro could feature a triple-camera setup with two 40-megapixel sensors and an 8-megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom.
Also, the Mate 30 Pro could come with 25W fast wireless charging support, and 55W fast wired charging. It is expected to pack a 3,900mAh battery, 6.7-inch display and will be powered by Kirin 990 processor. Meanwhile, the Mate 30 Lite is expected to be launched with new HarmonyOS but only in China. In other markets, it might continue to run Google’s Android 10 OS.
