Mevofit Dark Beat Z100 review: If you travel in public transport, chances are you come across a lot of people carrying headphones, some not even bothering to use them while they are commuting. The point I am trying to make here is that headphones are not just an audio device but also serve as a vital accessory for people. Yes, some buy headphones just to flaunt them. What that means is that it is important for a pair of headphones to look as good as they sound. Which brings us to the Mevofit Dark Beat Z100 headphone and what one immediately notices is that it fails to impress! However, that does not apply to its audio quality. Priced at Rs 2,990, the Dark Beat Z100 was launched in India last month and it has gone on sale through Amazon and MevoFit’s website.
At 210 grams, the Dark Beat Z100 is a lightweight headphone that is easy to carry around even while you are not using it. However, build quality doesn't seem that great. The Dark Beat Z100 features a plastic exterior with foam padding on ear cups and neck band. One side of the band reads Dark Beat in a funky font while the other mentions Z100. Notably, 'Mevofit' fails to find a mention on the device.
The band is adjustable but not smooth. You need to apply extra pressure to open and close it. Also, it can only be adjusted slightly and if you have a big head, you will have a hard time using the Z100.
It comes in two colours - Black and Red. We had the black colour model for review purposes but sad to say, the latter looks better in images.
The design is very basic with not too many exciting elements. The right earcup has Echronics branding on it. At the bottom of the left earcup, you get the TF card slot, USB charging port, microphone, 3.5 mm jack, indicator light, volume buttons, play or pause button and power button. All the buttons blend well with the earphones, giving it a very subtle look and feel.
Inside the box, you get the headphones, charger, aux audio cable and the USB manual.

There are high-end drivers that have been engineered to provide extraordinary performance, incredible acoustic experience, and superior comfort. The company claims that these headphones can be connected to all popular phone brands like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi Mi, Huawei, Motorola, Lenovo, Oppo, Vivo, One Plus, LG, etc
To test the device, we largely used it by connecting it to a smartphone through Bluetooth. And, while the build quality is not that impressive, the Dark Beat Z100 delivers a great audio quality. I played 'Sunflower' by Post Malone and Swae Lee, 'Memories' by Maroon 5 and 'Bad Guy' by Billie Eilish to test the audio performance.
Just like most headphones these days, the Mevofit Dark Beat Z100 is a bass heavy device and delivers a punchy output with high tempo songs. Having said that, even melodies like 'Kaise Hua' by Vishal Mishra and 'Ve Maahi' by Arijit Singh and Asees Kaur sound equally impressive.
The Dark Beat Z100 has a 250mAh battery which claims to offer up to to 8 hours of playtime and 100 hours of battery life on standby. This means you can use it while travelling and for long hours without having to worry about charging it.
Mevofit Dark Beat Z100 review: Final Verdict
There is no doubt that we are slowly moving towards a truly wireless experience when it comes to audio devices. But, the challenge for most users is to find a decent device at a reasonable price. The Mevofit Dark Beat Z100 fits into this category with its good audio output and impressive battery life. The company could have worked more on the design but there is nothing like a perfect gadget to really give sales a big push. At Rs 2,990, this isn't a bad bet, if you can compromise on the looks.
