Reading web articles on your Smartphones now even easier!

Google Read It: Google announced a new feature on March 5th that will allow Android phone users to make their Google Assistant read aloud web pages opened on their Chrome browser, Google Search or the News app. Google has introduced 'Read It' on the Google Assistant to make access to web pages easier on smartphones.  

By simply saying, “Hey Google, read it”, “Hey Google, read aloud” or “Hey Google, read this page”, Google Assistant will immediately read aloud the content of the opened web page. This feature is extremely useful for people with visual or reading difficulties, or who simply need a little help reading meatier articles. To help users follow along, the Google Assistant will automatically scroll the page and highlight words as it reads aloud the content. Aiming to use the same intonation and rhythm that one would use while reading it aloud, the feature also allows users to alter the reading speed and choose from multiple voices.

The Google 'Read It' feature will enable Google Assistant with live translation for 42 languages that will translate the webpage to the Smartphone or Android phone users' preferred language then read that aloud as well. While it will certainly be useful for those who may have difficulty seeing or reading on a small screen, this also seems like a much better solution to asking Google Assistant for a cooking recipe, then having to repeatedly say “Next!” to continue each step.
